Excel import is the fastest way to add a large number of guests to Weddingkart. Upload your existing spreadsheet and Weddingkart reads your columns, adds every guest, and creates groups automatically — all in a single step.

Prepare your file

Your Excel or CSV file needs at minimum a name column and a phone number column. Every other column is optional and gets imported as a guest attribute or used to create groups.

After importing this file, Weddingkart creates a “Brideside” group and a “Groomside” group automatically, and stores each guest’s hotel name as an attribute you can use in WhatsApp messages.
Use Yes/No values in any column you want to become a group. Columns with other values (like “Taj Hotel”) are imported as guest attributes instead.

Import steps

Navigate to Guests

Open the wedding in the Weddingkart app and go to Guests.

Tap Import from Excel

Tap Add Guests → Import Sheets. You can upload an .xlsx or .csv file from your device, or paste a Google Spreadsheet link.

Upload your file

Select your file and wait for Weddingkart to process it. The system analyzes every column and row.
  • If the file cannot be read at all, you’ll see an error and the import stops.
  • If most rows are valid but some have issues (missing phone numbers, bad formatting), you’ll see a warning. You can continue past warnings or abort, fix the file, and re-upload.

Review column mapping and select groups

Weddingkart shows you all the groups it detected from Yes/No columns. Select the groups you want to create. You don’t need to import every group — only select the ones you’ll use for sending announcements.

Confirm the import

Tap Save. Guests are added, and groups are created for every column you selected.

After import

Groups appear immediately in the Groups section of your wedding. You can add or remove guests from any group at any time. If you re-upload an updated version of the same file, Weddingkart matches guests by phone number:
  • Guests already in the system have their name and group assignments updated.
  • New phone numbers are added as new guests.
  • Removed phone numbers are not deleted automatically — you remove them manually if needed.
Changing a guest’s phone number in Excel and re-uploading adds the new number but does not remove the old one. Delete the old number manually in the app if you no longer need it.

Cleaning your file before import

If your guest list was collected from multiple sources (family WhatsApp threads, caterer lists, hotel lists), it may contain duplicate entries or inconsistent phone number formats.
