Planorama vs Weddingkart

Planorama vs Weddingkart for Indian wedding planners

Planorama is a capable planner tool with a vendor catalogue and a day-of run sheet. The question worth asking first is how it can offer unlimited WhatsApp messages when Meta charges for every one.

Quick Answer

Is Planorama a good alternative to Weddingkart?

Planorama is a capable product - it ships a vendor catalogue and a day-of run sheet, which Weddingkart does not. On the rest, the two are closer than the pricing suggests: both handle hotel room blocks, guests, travel and multi-event RSVPs. The difference that matters is the messaging rail. Planorama offers a "Regular WhatsApp" sender you link by QR code from a personal number, which is what makes unlimited messages possible, and its own app warns that bulk sending on it "can be flagged by Meta, leading to number bans - permanent loss of that number". Weddingkart sends only on the official WhatsApp Business Platform, which is metered because Meta bills per message. Pick Planorama if a vendor catalogue and a run sheet are what you are missing; pick Weddingkart if the number carrying your invitations must not be at risk, and for the AI, mobile apps and document intelligence Planorama has no version of.

What Planorama does that we don’t

A vendor catalogue

Planorama tracks vendors per wedding and in an account-level catalogue you can reuse across projects, with categories and Active / Inactive / Blacklisted status. If your vendor book lives in your head or a separate sheet today, that is a real convenience Weddingkart does not offer.

A planner-authored RSVP question builder

Planners write their own questions on the guest link and scope each one to the RSVP, Travel or Stay tab, with per-question answer locks - and because it is a web form, nothing needs approving. Weddingkart is flexible in a different way: you can build any template with any buttons you like, and Meta approves it as a utility template. That covers most of what planners actually ask, but it is a review step rather than a form builder.

The part worth understanding before you compare prices

Planorama's paid tier advertises unlimited messages and unlimited sender numbers. Weddingkart meters messages as credits. Set side by side, unlimited obviously looks better - so it is worth explaining why the two are priced differently, because the answer is not margin.

On the official WhatsApp Business Platform, Meta charges for every message delivered. That cost is real and it lands on whoever sends. Any vendor offering genuinely unlimited official messaging is either absorbing an uncapped bill or sending somewhere other than the metered rail.

Planorama offers two sender types, and is upfront about the difference in its own app. One is a proper Meta-verified WhatsApp Business API number. The other, which it calls “Regular WhatsApp”, is a personal number you link by scanning a QR code and entering an eight-character pairing code - the same mechanism as WhatsApp Web. No templates, no approval, no per-message charge, because Meta is not billing it.

That is what funds unlimited. Their own interface sets out the trade honestly, which is more than many vendors do - and it is exactly the sentence a planner should read twice before pointing a wedding at it.

Our own prices are published rather than quoted, so you can compare them without booking a call - see Weddingkart pricing.

Planorama's two sender types, in its own words

Wording observed in Planorama's public web app, 9 September 2026.

WhatsApp Business API (official)

  • → “Meta-verified number — trusted sender status”
  • → “Meta does not block your number for sending bulk messages”
  • → “Only approved template messages can be sent”
  • → “Pricing is controlled by Meta's rate structure”

“Regular WhatsApp” — what unlimited runs on

  • ✓ “Send any message freely — no template approval required”
  • ✓ “No pre-approval process from Meta before sending”
  • ⚠ “Bulk messaging can be flagged by Meta, leading to number bans — permanent loss of that number”
  • ⚠ “Less trust and security compared to a Meta-verified business account”

Weddingkart offers one rail: the official WhatsApp Business Platform, as a Meta Business Solution Provider. It costs more per message because Meta bills it, and the number carrying your invitations is not exposed to a ban for sending them.

Which should you choose?

Choose Weddingkart if…

  • The number your invitations go out from is one you cannot afford to lose.
  • You want tickets and IDs read automatically rather than opened and typed up by a coordinator.
  • You need AI doing real work - a guest concierge on WhatsApp and a voice agent that calls guests who never reply.
  • You are handing out gift hampers and want a record of who actually received one.
  • You want each guest to get an invitation with their own name on it, not one shared graphic.
  • Your team needs a phone app on the wedding day, not a browser tab.
  • You want to see the price, and the track record, before you talk to a salesperson.

Planorama is the better fit if…

  • You want a vendor catalogue - per wedding and reusable across weddings - inside the same tool as your guest list.
  • You want a day-of run sheet with vendor call times attached.
  • You want to write your own RSVP questions on a web form with no approval step.
  • You want a spreadsheet-style guest grid with your own custom columns.
  • You accept the messaging trade-off their app describes, and unlimited sending matters more to you than sender protection.

Why WhatsApp is the wedge

This is the fork in the road. Both products send WhatsApp; only one of them is only ever official. Weddingkart is a Meta Business Solution Provider, so every message runs through the WhatsApp Business Platform, is billed by Meta, and carries a sender that Meta will not ban for doing exactly what you bought it to do.

Planorama supports that same official rail - and also a personal number linked by QR code, which is how unlimited messaging becomes possible. If you use it, the number is yours, the sending is yours, and so is the risk their app describes. For a wedding, the timing is what makes that uncomfortable: a number lost mid-send is not recoverable on the morning of the sangeet.

If you want the mechanics behind all of this, we wrote them up in how the WhatsApp Business API works and what WhatsApp messages actually cost.

Run your wedding on WhatsApp

30 free credits, every feature unlocked, no card needed. Standard is ₹8,499 per wedding (one-time, +18% GST) when you are ready.

Frequently asked questions

How can Planorama offer unlimited WhatsApp messages?
Because its "Regular WhatsApp" sender is a personal number linked by QR code and an eight-character pairing code, rather than the official WhatsApp Business Platform. Meta bills per message on the official rail, so unlimited is not possible there without someone absorbing an uncapped cost. Planorama also supports proper WhatsApp Business API numbers - the unlimited tier is what the linked-number path enables.
Is there a real risk of a WhatsApp ban with Planorama?
Planorama says so itself. Its own interface states that with the Regular WhatsApp sender, "bulk messaging can be flagged by Meta, leading to number bans - permanent loss of that number," and that it offers "less trust and security compared to a Meta-verified business account." We have no evidence of any specific customer being banned, and we are not claiming otherwise - but that is the disclosed trade, and for a wedding the consequence lands on a date that cannot move.
Does Weddingkart do hotel room blocks like Planorama?
Yes. Weddingkart tracks rooms, occupancy and check-in and check-out against each guest, with allocation handled in the host app, so a planner can run a hotel block from the same place the guest list lives. Planorama has a drag-and-drop placement view with cross-hotel conflict checking. Both products cover this ground - it is not the deciding factor between them.
What does Weddingkart do that Planorama has no version of?
Anything involving AI or a phone. Weddingkart reads uploaded tickets and IDs automatically instead of collecting files for someone to type up, runs a WhatsApp concierge bot that answers guest questions from a per-wedding knowledge base, makes voice calls in six languages to guests who never reply, collects guest photos into the couple's Google Drive, and ships iOS and Android apps. Planorama has none of these - it is web-only with no AI features in the product.
Which is cheaper, Planorama or Weddingkart?
Planorama's pricing is not public - the paid tier is quoted through a sales conversation. Weddingkart publishes everything on its pricing page: ₹4,999 Basic and ₹8,499 Standard on our shared number, or ₹7,000 and ₹8,000 with unlimited messages if you bring your own WhatsApp number. Note also that Planorama's terms describe a 5% non-refundable fee deducted from each guest-side payment, which is worth checking if you plan to collect money from guests.
